The iconic local-food species is the homegrown Tomato, but my personal candidate would be Garlic. This looks like a great year for it. Here, captured in images, is one of Shady Grove’s important crops from sowing to harvest.

Digging, hauling, sorting, stacking to cure, covering, uncovering, trimming, cleaning and storing: one of the most satisfying jobs, with the greatest results!
