That week, I didn’t even scribble an envelope. So you know it wasn’t totally without accomplishment, I’m just putting up a picture of the cleared Basil plot that’s going to be Carrots next season (pretty sure that’d be Spring, but my brain is froze.)

Some of the f irst-worked (1988) soil on this place. Covered last February with a foot of horse manure, composted till May, produced a thriving Basil crop and now cleared to frost-break until late March when my Shin Kuroda carrots will be sown.
